Harry Banga is an Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the Founder, Chairman & CEO of The Caravel Group Limited, a leading global conglomerate engaged in commodities trading, maritime services and fleet management.
Harry began his career in the maritime industry before going into the commodities business. Prior to forming Caravel together with his two sons, he was Co-Founder & Vice-Chairman of the Noble Group Limited, a leading global commodities trading business.
Harry is well regarded in HK for his great philanthropic efforts. He is a leading benefactor of the City University of HK. The Caravel Group’s charitable arm ‘The Caravel Foundation’ focusses on education and healthcare of underprivileged children in both HK and India. Harry is also very involved with the redevelopment of the Sikh temple in HK and runs a free dispensary providing medical services and dental services to poor people in Punjab, India.
Harry has been awarded an honorary degree by the City University of Hong Kong and the ‘Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award’ by the Government of India, an award for the most distinguished Persons of Indian origin living overseas.
